Media Release: FVTOC Appoints Inaugural CEO
FEDERATION OF VICTORIAN TRADITIONAL OWNER CORPORATIONS APPOINT INAUGURAL CEO Marcus Stewart, a Taungurung Traditional Owner from central Victoria will become the first CEO of the Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations (The Federation) from 1 January 2018. The Federation is Victoria’s peak body for Traditional Owner Corporations and Mr Stewart will lead the implementation of the new strategic plan, and drive economic, political and Country outcomes.
Mr Stewart was previously the Deputy Chairperson of the Federation and CEO of the Taungurung Clans Aboriginal Corporation. He brings extensive experience of strategic policy direction and design through senior roles in the Victorian State Government and recently graduated from Melbourne Business School. Janine Coombs, Chair of the Federation said: ‘ Marcus is well-known and respected in the Victorian Aboriginal community and the Board have every confidence that he will grow the Federation and position us as leaders in the political, economic and cultural landscape.’
Marcus Stewart said: ‘In just four years, the Federation has built a solid base in Victoria. I’m proud to be working with all the different Traditional Owner communities to make sure the Federation truly represents their interests and becomes a stronger voice on state-wide policy.’ Mr Stewart will lead a specialist policy secretariat team based at the Federation’s Head Office in North Melbourne.
