The Joint Venture was awarded the contract to design and construct the West Gate Tunnel Project.
About the Project
The West Gate Tunnel Project is a partnership between the Victorian Government and Transurban. It will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, provide quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks off residential streets. The project will include:
Widening the West Gate Freeway from eight lanes to 12 between the M80 Ring Road and Williamstown Road;
Building a 2.8km eastbound tunnel and a 4km westbound tunnel under Yarraville;
Constructing a bridge over the Maribyrnong River providing an alternative to the West Gate Bridge;
Constructing an elevated road along Footscray Road to the Port of Melbourne; and
Major new cycling and pedestrian paths.
CPBJH JV is committed to maximising employment and training for Aboriginal people and we have committed to 2.5% of Project labour hours by Aboriginal workers.
People who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to express interest in all available roles on the project from labourers, plant operators and construction supervisors to administrative, engineering, design, commercial and finance roles.
Most roles will be based in the western suburbs at a number of sites along the project corridor.
These roles will provide successful candidates with the opportunity to join a rapidly growing industry with long term employment and career development prospects, not only on the West Gate Tunnel Project, but on future projects throughout Victoria and Australia.
